Fashion on the run…

By Anibal de Almeida

Fashion Week is almost there and we need to be on top of it and make sure we have the LOOK! Because we are running from shows to shows, from presentations to parties, we have no time to analyse our appearance in the mirror …

Here is my selection for you to be a fashionable runner. More »

How do I look?

By Delphine Hervieu

Me in the mirror/ Delphine from StyleStudio42.com

captured in the mirror...

You look good when you smile, when you are tanned, when you have lost 2 stones.

“How do I Look?” is a common question you ask yourself in the morning, your colleague when you arrive at work, your friend in the changing room during your weekend shopping sessions. This question might sound superficial but the answer will determine your level of confidence. You are often guessing in people’s eyes and expressions the “yes” or the “no”. This question is much more philosophical that you might think, the outcomes have an impact on the relation between your body and your soul at a specific moment. More »

Tim Ryan is knitting in the studio…

By Delphine Hervieu

Tim Ryan

Tim Ryan

Tim Ryan, the knitwear connoisseur, has accepted to answer some questions for StyleStudio42.com

Tim is an Irish fashion designer, based in London, who has explored knitwear and has taken it to a new level. Knitwear is no longer to be resumed to the jumper you got from your grandma or the tops and gilets you would buy in wintertime because they keep you warm. Thanks to Tim, knitwear has shown to be glamourous, and yes, you can dress up with a total knitwear look as showed by the jumpsuit that we wish we bought 2 seasons ago. According to Tim you can build your entire wardrobe with knits, you should not be limited by the industry traditional conventions. Tim focuses on shapes and structure, his architectural background does surely influence his work. His recent use of colour is to compliment the body and give a twist to this oldish fabric. Knitting remains an artisanal craft, which makes Tim’s creations, pieces to wear and to collect.

The Prettiest First Date Face

By Bianca Pal

Rachel Bilson

Rachel Bilson, it is in the eyes...

There’s nothing more daunting than preparing for that all-important first date. What should you wear – will your look suit the occasion? When in doubt, it’s always better to dress down rather than up and to ensure that your make-up improves and enhances, rather than obscures your natural beauty. This look features a soft-focus, slightly dewy base with flushed cheeks, subtle, flirty eyes and a gently glossy lip.

Richard Wilson, 20:50 installation at The Saatchi Gallery

I have planned 2010 to be huge and my “back on track” opening could not illustrate this better. Indeed, my first 2010 art steps were in the Saatchi Gallery for the preview of Richard Wilson’s 20:50 installation. It was the first time, I have been asked to leave my bag and coat at the entrance for safety reasons: “You know oil can spoil your clothes…”

Monochrome

Lise-Lotte at DOYLE DEVERE in black & white

Black & white or the colours that are not actual colours. There is something about these 2 together and separate. When you think about it, you cannot really separate them; they seem to be bounded together in an attraction/ repulsion logic. The monochrome technique in painting was used in the 16th century to represent vanities. « VANITAS VANITATUM OMNIA VANITAS »: « Vanities of vanity, all is vanity ».
