We have crossed France, reached Milan and we are definitely going to stand out of the Milanese crowd as we stood out of the London one last week. Nothing to worry about, we have packed our Louis Vuitton mallette with thoughts and taste.

So here we go for our Italian fashion lesson:

Day 5/ London Fashion Week…Squeeze in Peter Pilotto….

By Delphine Hervieu

Peter Pilotto AW10 fashion show at Selfridges Car Park on 23rd February 2010

Peter Pilotto AW10

Yesterday was one of the best London Fashion Week days for me. Indeed, I saw one of my favourite duo and, yes, they performed more than well. Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos showed their Autumn Winter 2010 Collection at the Selfridges Car Park. As Dolly Jones from Vogue.co.uk puts it “ It is hard to believe that Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos have only been showing their collection on the catwalk for two and a half years.” The collection is consistent, polished and of a high standard but nevertheless extra-ordinary. Day 4/ London Fashion Week…Mon Jardin d’Hiver…

Christopher Kane AW10 Collection

Christopher Kane AW10 Collection

Christopher Kane’s AW10 collection is about lace, leather and PVC.  Black remains next winter but with flowery appliqués that reminds me of Spanish scarves. Blooming flowers do soften a look that is sexy, naughty and also girly. A success. As usual, quality and creativity are “au rendez-vous”. Fitted mini dresses to be worn day and night are predominant in this proposal that is about womanhood. More »

Day 3/ London Fashion Week…Todd Lynn won the game.

Todd Lynn takes us for a hunting journey next AW10. The trip should be more than interesting as suggested by the calibre of people who attended the show. I sat right behind Janet Jackson, across the catwalk from Suzie Menkes and not so far from Harold Tillman.

Day 2/ London Fashion Week… Bravo to Iris Van Herpen!

By Delphine Hervieu

IRIS VAN HERPEN AW10 "SYNESTHESIA" SHOW

IRIS VAN HERPEN AW10 "SYNESTHESIA" SHOW

She already drew my attention last September with her SS10 collection “ Radiation Invasion”, the 3D structures, the handcrafted leather applied on geometric shapes were a new proposal. She is a good mix of Jean Claude Jitrois for the leatherwork and Alexander McQueen for the radical approach of her creations.

Iris surprised me once and yesterday surprised me twice!

I liked “Radiation Invasion” but I love “Synesthesia”. She has pushed the boundaries further with an AW10 collection inspired by cross-sensational phenomenon of feeling sound, smelling motion. The colour palette remains the same as SS10, latte, nude and black with some touches of shimmering gold. The shoes were obviously a reverence for Alexander McQueen but unlike other designers they were well finished and had Iris’ stamp on them.

The sensitive bodies and fragile lines have definitely convinced me that Iris van Herpen belongs to the London confirmed designers. She used to show in Tokyo and Amsterdam, I am very happy that she made her way  to London Fashion Week and hope to see her On Schedule next September.

Harold Tillman LFW AW10 inaugural speech

Harold Tillman LFW AW10 inaugural speech

I started my marathon at 9am and finished at 9pm, a long day for my legs that need to get used to it as Milan and Paris will follow these few days of travelling to the Strand.

I have seen eleven shows  but three stood out to me: Felder Felder, Sass & Bide, Ramon Gurillo. In a word, two confirmed talents and one surprise. More »
